Economic empowerment

Strength in Unity and Investment
“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Our Aim

We are committed to empowering vulnerable and marginalized families by creating sustainable economic opportunities. Our goal is to mobilize, renew hope, and inspire lasting transformation in the lives of those facing extreme poverty.

We strive to:

✅ Promote socio-economic transformation for meaningful participation in the economy.

✅ Enable the less fortunate to become self-reliant.

✅ Support the growth and sustainability of small businesses.

Business Development Support

The Challenge

High unemployment rates and limited access to credit facilities leave many hardworking individuals in sub-Saharan Africa struggling to break free from poverty. Most financial institutions only provide loans to large businesses with high-interest rates and collateral requirements—excluding the underserved majority.

Many people have the skills and determination to succeed but lack the financial resources to start or grow their businesses. Without intervention, they remain trapped in poverty.

Our Solution: Mwangaza Bidii Community-Based Group

To bridge this gap, we created a revolving fund cycle under the Mwangaza Bidii Community-Based Group to provide affordable, accessible, and sustainable financial support for small business development.

"Mwangaza" means Light, and "Bidii" means Effort in Kiswahili.

Due to economic hardships, only some members currently operate small income-generating activities. Their earnings support essential needs such as medical care, education, shelter, and nutrition.

Our Economic Activities

💼 Small Businesses – Retail shops, green groceries, and cereal stores.

🌱 Farming & Agriculture – Organic/inorganic farming, horticulture, dairy, mixed farming, and greenhouse production.

🐔 Poultry Keeping – Sustainable chicken farming for income and nutrition.

🐟 Fish Farming – Boosting food security and local trade.

🐝 Beekeeping – Honey production as an alternative livelihood source.

Target for Empowerment

Our program is designed for community members facing constraints that limit their ability to start or expand businesses. We support:

🔹 Entrepreneurs looking to launch micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises.

🔹 Business owners seeking expansion opportunities.

🔹 Individuals with limited or no access to traditional credit services.

By addressing these challenges, we equip the community with tools for long-term financial stability.

How It Works

📌 Members contribute small amounts (as little as $1 per week) to a pooled community fund.

📌 These resources are saved in our bank account and used to provide loans at low interest rates.

📌 Loans are unsecured (no collateral required), making them accessible to all.

📌 Flexible repayment terms allow members to repay without financial strain.

📌 Members receive entrepreneurship training, including business management, marketing, and financial planning.
